Be Fearless

Living with a whole heart means that your heart has to be ready to love at any moment. Loving again can be a scary thought if you've been hurt. But the fear of getting hurt keeps your heart small. Moving from fear to love is everyone's work. Fear is the absence of faith and love is faith in action. You can't love and fear at the same time. So you're going to have to pick.

I say be fearless. We are all so much braver than we think. Yogi Bhajan taught that all women are lionesses and all men are lions. At our core, we are strong and steady. I wear a steel bracelet called a kara that reminds me of that. When I'm afraid, I rub the kara and say to myself, “Strong as steel, steady as stone.” It acts as a charm that reminds me of my own power. Sometimes we think of the heart as so fragile, but it isn't true. If you break a heart, it will mend itself, but if you break a stone, it lies in pieces. We are stronger than we know and braver than we suspect. Challenge yourself to find the real you, powerful and loving.

There's no cure for fear but to go right through it. If loving scares you, then you have no choice. You must love. Be brave, take a breath and do it.
